WordPress Theme of The Month: The Morning After

Yes, I know there are still a few days until November. I figured I’d publish the November theme a little ahead of schedule though. This month’s theme is called The Morning After.

The Morning After is a magazine-style theme with an interesting layout, and some cool functions. The header is extensively customizable, allowing for a custom logo to be inserted easily. The large banner image below the logo and search, when customized, can have three different versions for the home page, single post pages, and archives.

There are four areas for the display of posts on the main page, “Latest Post,” “Recent Posts,” “Featured Post,” and “Asides.” The “Latest Post” area, obviously, displays the latest post. “Featured Post” shows the most recent post in a “Features” category, “Recent Posts” a list of the most recent posts on the blog, and “Asides” the short note-like content from the corresponding category. Every post, no matter what type, can have a unique image assigned through a custom post field.

There is room for ads, a printer-friendly stylesheet, and more. If you’re looking for a good magazine-style theme, look no further. This is one of the more advanced themes out there, and if you’re into theme development, I highly recommend that you take a look at The Morning After. Learn from it.
