Matt Mullenweg has just redesigned his blog. First impression: “My eyes!” The oranges, greens, and blues are really shocking if you were expecting the old, more tame design.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed a few things.
- There’s a sidebar now
- The header reads “Ma.tt” now instead of “PhotoMatt,” reflecting his recent domain change. <rant type=”maniacal”>Just you wait, Mullenweg, once we get new generic TLDs, I’ll get an even better “Matt” domain! You won’t be the #1 Matt any longer. Muahahaha!</rant>
- There’s a cool new double-column comment form
- There’s a bit of a Spanish look to it, as he points-out in his post announcing the new design
Personally, I like the old design better, though the new one isn’t too bad. There is some room for improvement still, especially in the archives department. The sidebar isn’t a great place for date-based archives, in my opinion.

Really cool theme and the way it is build is pretty impressive.
Yeah, it’s a pretty cool theme. But I still like the old one better. That’s probably just me though.
You’re not alone – I like the old one too. This looks more like a childish comic (though you’ve to adore his Photoshop/Fireworks skills).
Oh well, it’s not a site I frequent anyway (I only visit when I see an interesting headline on my Dashboard). I just don’ like to see a good design vanish.
Just noticed that the design was done by someone else, not Matt himself. Oh well, a code genius mostly isn’t a design genius
Oh, I don’t know. It’s possible to be both.
I think Mullenweg gave a bit of input during the design process though. So the designer probably isn’t entirely responsible for it.
