What Would You Like to See in WP125?

The WP125 Ad Management Plugin has gained quite a sizeable following over the past few months, with nearly 4,000 downloads logged in WordPress/Extend as I write this. (Note that there were likely a lot of downloads before it was accepted into the repository.)

Overall, I think it’s been successful.

The point of the plugin has been to provide an easy way to manage 125×125 ads, rather than relying on hand-coding or more complex ad-serving applications like OpenX. The goal has been to make it the right choice for as many bloggers as possible who want to sell 125×125 ads.

So, how is it? What do you like about WP125? What do you want to see in it? Is there something about it that just bugs you? What killer feature is missing that you just have to have?

The next release of WP125 is in the works currently, and I’m working on it off and on, whenever I have some spare time. Now is a good time to suggest new additions or changes.

This is you chance to voice your opinions about the plugin. Any constructive criticism or suggestions are welcome.

I’d want to se some styling options prebuilt Matt. Like padding between images etc..Looking forward to it.

i have been using WP125 since i have been reading your blog, and i reckon its just great. but my host randomly died like a month ago and i didnt have a backup so i didnt bother to re make the blog since it wasnt getting that many visitors anyway… like mani said, it might be pretty cool to have some styling options and also if we could have columns or something so there would be 2 ads next to each other or something

“I’d want to se some styling options prebuilt Matt. Like padding between images etc..Looking forward to it.”

Could you elaborate further? I don’t quite follow. Are you saying that you’d like to see options on the Settings screen to to tweak some basic styling, such as padding, without editing the stylesheet?

“if we could have columns or something so there would be 2 ads next to each other or something”

The plugin already has a two-column mode, which, assuming the sidebar containing it is wide enough, will display the ads in two columns (as seen on ProBlogger.net). Are you refering to something else?

Thanks for this easy to use widget.  Although my side bar is wide enough to accomodate  2 column ads, the ads are displaying as 1 column with no padding.  I have the ad settings set at 2 column.  Is there something in my style sheet I need to tweak?

Tracey, you should probably edit the WP125 default CSS and reduce the padding values listed for two-column ads.

I want to be able to set the start-date to sometime in the future. So that it can start at the right time, and then finish at the right time too.

This has been requested a couple of times too, and is likely to be worked into the plugin sooner or later. Whenever I have the time and initiative to do it.

    Hiya,

It would be great to be able to do ROWS as well as columns.

e.g. I would like to have four ad slots, in a single row horizontally.

If the container DIV is wide enough, the ads should expand horizontally to fit when you’re using the “two column” option.
