Some of them are donation-ware or ad-supported though. To name a few I have used:

NewsFire, Tweetie for Mac, TextWrangler, CyberDuck, Skitch, Evernote, Colloquy, Adium, Transmission, OnyX.

Many of the usual Windows suspects are available, too, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. I can’t think of a mainstream browser (Opera, even…) that doesn’t have a Mac version, and many open source projects have Mac ports.

It is a bit more difficult to find free apps though. I just hope the Mac App Store won’t make it even harder, since developers will have a stupidly-simple way to make some extra money. :)

After being a Windows user for so long, the one thing I can definitely say is that the quality of free Windows apps far surpasses the quality of free Mac ones (Tbh, good luck finding many decent free Mac apps… :( )

Could definitely make the Windows blog more interesting to follow because you can try out a lot of the apps without getting your wallet out every time. :)
